That's it, we are in July, and who says July says first periods of heatwave. If southern Europe is affected, so are France and Luxembourg.
MeteoLux issued a Orange vigilance on Tuesday 1 July for the Grand Duchy, with maximum temperatures between 33°C and 35°C from 13:00 to 20:00 The mercury will continue to rise in the following days, sinceA red alert was issued for Wednesday in the south of the country, with temperatures up to 39 degrees.
A perfect opportunity for the writing ofAlleyesOnMe.Jobs To share Our stupidest ideas to fight the heatwave in the office... (not to be reproduced in real life at work).
Everyone knows it: there is nothing better than the liquid element to cool off in periods of high heat. So why not plunge a little head into the pool between two emails?
An attractive idea on paper but which quickly finds its limits from a technical point of view, we agree.
Already, you have to put your lungs to the test to inflate the pool. Do not hesitate to organize an inflation activity within the department, with the reward of 5 minutes of privatizing the pool area for the fastest. Your colleagues will not be able to resist the call of gain/bath.
Then, you must bring your swimsuit and pink flamingo buoy (think of armbands for colleagues who don't know how to swim). Nice idea: personalize armbands and buoys in the colors of the box, in case of customer visits to the premises.
Finally, establish a schedule of swimming sessions within the department: slots of 10 minutes maximum per person, in rotation, no more than one colleague at a time. Organization is the key to a successful pool day.
Editorial advice : Anticipate water jets and splashes well by protecting the computer equipment on your desk!
Do you want to get back to the beach atmosphere in the office? What could be better than a good gourmet (and sweet) break to regain strength.
Not only will you participate in the company's renewed efficiency, but you will gain the sympathy of all by offering your various donuts, scrunchies and other churros in the corridors of the company.
Be careful to arrive prepared: you think of renting a cart in good condition, capable of driving with precision on all professional surfaces (carpet, tiles, parquet...) and of overcoming the various obstacles brilliantly (hidden staples, paper jams from the printer thrown carelessly on the ground, leftovers from the previous day's departure pot...).
Also important: anticipate the quantity of food as best as possible. Think of colleagues on a full “summer body” diet, those in the middle of the “full cracking” phase, and the greediest who never refuse a chocolate donut AND icing sugar.
The editorial advice: reach an agreement in advance with the cleaning teams who will have to remove the traces of chocolate and cream that have taken over the living spaces and offices on all floors (not to mention the fingerprints that dot the elevator).
The break room is good for lunch break. But when you can rename it “beach space”, it's a lot more fun ! Again, it is important to manage the logistical part as best as possible, but we remain economical and aim for recovery.
We think about the planet and we respect the company's CSR standards: we use the fabric partitions that separate our office from the neighbor, and we will fill a few sandbags in the park down the street (which we will put back in its place after the operation, of course).
Result: a mini beach accessible to all, which will be topped with plastic starfish and other multi-colored seals and shovels for a 100% nostalgia effect.
The most meticulous will go so far as to arrange a few shells or pine needles here and there for a “wow” effect, but we won't judge you on that, don't worry.
Editorial advice : if your company is dog-friendly, warn colleagues who come with their four-legged companion that this sand-filled square is not the new space where their four-legged friends can relieve themselves (you never know).
Sunbathing in meetings is good, but watch out for UV during a heatwave, especially if you are positioned in direct contact with the windows (which heat up very quickly).
Our idea: Bring back the family's umbrellas and install them in a row in front of the windows of the room.
Not only will you be protected from UV rays, but you will bring a touch of color to an often dull work environment. It's summer after all! However, be careful not to obstruct the video projector screen during a presentation.
A useful reminder: no need to try to forcefully plant the umbrella into the stained carpet in the meeting room, you will only make the damage worse.
Collect the old machines lying around in the stock room (printers, computers, etc.) and weight the base of the umbrellas with this weight to ensure they are maintained. And that's it!
Editorial advice : Set an alarm every 30 minutes to adjust the opening of the umbrellas according to the position of the sun. A mandatory operation under penalty of total ineffectiveness of the operation.
