Although Luxembourg City is just short of the top 10 cities where it is good to live, it nevertheless climbed 6 places to reach 11th place in the ranking. Global Liveability Index 2025.
The Global Sustainability Index assesses cities around the world based on factors such as stability, health care, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
Each category was scored out of 100 points, based on more than 30 qualitative and quantitative measures, with the final index reflecting the average of the five categories.

At the other end of the scale, Dhaka in Bangladesh (41.7), Tripoli in Libya (40.1), and Damascus in Syria (30.7) are among the least pleasant cities to live in.
The most significant improvement came from Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, which rose 13 places to 135th with a score of 62.5. On the other hand, Calgary, Canada, saw the biggest drop, falling from 5th to 18th place despite a relatively high score of 94.7.
This ranking confirms what many international talents already feel: working and settling in Luxembourg means choosing a unique living environment that is at once dynamic, secure and multicultural.
