How will you contribute?
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the Networking and Communications (NETCOM) research group at LIST. NETCOM is a multidisciplinary team conducting applied and fundamental research on next-generation wireless networks, integrated sensing and communication, and connected autonomous systems. The successful candidate will contribute to research at the intersection of UAV systems, wireless sensing, and AI-based perception, supporting the development of resilient and infrastructure-independent sensing and communication solutions for civil applications.
You will work primarily on the design, development, and validation of multi-modal sensing and detection systems for UAV swarms operating in challenging environments. More specifically, you will be in charge of:
Designing and prototyping robust UAV communication architectures, combining long-range, low-power links with short-range, high-throughput connectivity for collaborative sensing.
Developing integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) algorithms for detection and localization of human and animal targets using wireless signal variations.
Contributing to multi-modal sensor fusion, combining wireless sensing with vision-based perception to ensure reliable detection under adverse conditions.
Integrating sensing and communication components into end-to-end UAV systems and performing laboratory-level system validation.
Publishing research results in high-impact journals and international conferences and contributing to collaborative research activities within the group.
Supporting or leading the preparation of competitive research proposals in collaboration with internal and external partners.
Contributing to knowledge transfer, demonstrations, and validation of developed solutions in real-world or simulated industrial environments.
