How will you contribute?
As part of building internal cloud native and platform capabilities within AIRA, we are opening an R&T Engineer position focused on Platform Engineering. You will design, build, and operate the core infrastructure and platform components that power AI, Data, and Digital Twin workloads across heterogeneous Research IT environments.
As an autonomous engineer, you will contribute to the development of internal platforms, manage cloud landing zones and Kubernetes-based clusters, and streamline the delivery of reproducible research demonstrators. You will define best practices for infrastructure automation, platform reliability, and secure software delivery, while collaborating closely with research teams to transform their needs into scalable and maintainable platform services.

Your duties may include:
Platform Engineering & Infrastructure Automation: Design, build, and operate cloud native foundational components (Kubernetes clusters, shared services, IaC modules, internal tooling) to support the team’s AI and Data assets.
Cloud & On Prem Integration: Manage and evolve cloud landing zones (provided by corporate IT) and on premise research clusters; ensure consistent infrastructure automation patterns across environments.
Internal Developer Platform (IDP) Enablement: Create reusable, self service infrastructure blueprints enabling researchers to deploy demonstrators, pipelines, and experiments efficiently and safely.
Infrastructure as Code & GitOps: Implement and maintain Terraform/CloudFormation modules, GitOps workflows, policies, and automation to ensure reproducible and secure deployments.
Platform Observability: Design and maintain robust observability stacks (metrics, logs, traces) to monitor platform health and guide performance improvements.
Technical Architecture & Advisory: Advise research teams on designing cloud native, scalable architectures aligned with corporate IT guidelines and modern platform engineering good practices.
Project Contribution: Participate in infrastructure, integration, and platform related work packages for projects such as CitCom.ai, NextLogic, and the AI Factory.
Knowledge Sharing & Dissemination: Contribute to documentation, technical workshops, project deliverables, and support software disclosures or patents where applicable.
Education
Master’s degree or equivalent studies in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
Experience and skills
At least 3 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud-native infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE.
Ability to design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based distributed systems.
Experience collaborating with software engineering and data teams to enable reliable and efficient delivery workflows.
Strong focus on automation, operational excellence, and developer experience.
Strong capacity for abstraction, reasoning, and structured problem-solving.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse, multicultural teams and translate between technical and organizational contexts
To access this job, you should have demonstrated to:
Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud landing zones (AWS/Azure; GCP appreciated).
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (preferred), CloudFormation, or similar.
Experience implementing GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD, Flux).
Knowledge of service mesh, container networking, and cloud‑native security principles.
Ability to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines tailored to containerized workloads.
Experience with observability stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
Language skills
Fluency in English both oral and written. Other relevant languages are an asset.
