Research and Development Specialist
Your role
- Support newly recruited Professors of the DHML in the establishment and ramp‑up of their wet‑lab activities, from initial planning to full operational readiness
- Provide scientific and technical expertise in wet‑lab methodologies, with a strong focus on advanced cellular models
- Support the purchasing, installation, validation and maintenance of complex laboratory equipment
- Drive, coordinate and implement a department‑wide strategy for 3D pre‑clinical model systems, e.g. organoids, spheroids, organ‑on‑chip
- Establish, optimize and document complex laboratory methods and protocols
- Act as a central point of contact to harmonise protocols, and best practices across DHML research groups, ensuring the highest technical quality standards across research groups
- Foster collaboration between research teams, core facilities, and external partners to strengthen 3D model development and use
- Monitor technological developments in molecular biology, imaging, 3D model systems and wet‑lab innovation, proposing strategic enhancements for the department
Your profile
- Master’s degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a related life‑science field
- Strong hands‑on expertise in 3D cell biology, including cell lines, organoids, and co‑culture systems
- Proven experience with cell‑based assays, such as drug screening, invasion and proliferation assays, immunofluorescence, and live‑cell imaging
- Demonstrated ability to process and work with patient‑derived material and primary samples
- Solid experience in flow cytometry, including multicolour panel design and data analysis
- Experience with immunological techniques, including isolation and handling of human immune cells and ELISA assays
- Strong skills in protein biology, including SDS‑PAGE, Western blotting, and IP/Co‑IP
- Broad expertise in advanced molecular biology techniques and advanced imaging techniques – confocal microscopy, real-time imaging, FACS
- Experience in histology, including paraffin embedding, microtome sectioning, and IHC/IF staining
- Proficiency in confocal microscopy, including image acquisition and analysis
- Full proficiency in English; knowledge of French would be an asset
- Well‑organised, autonomous, and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple experimental workflows
