How will you contribute?
You will be an essential member of the Finance Office team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance Office within a team of seven. The Finance Office plays a pivotal role at corporate level, ensuring robust and transparent financial management across the Institute.
As a Financial Controller, you will actively contribute to financial planning, monitoring, and performance improvement across LIST’s activities, with a specific focus on CAPEX and equipment management.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Preparing, monitoring, and analysing department budgets, forecasts, and cost models in collaboration with operational and research units.
Ensuring accurate CAPEX follow-up, including investment planning, equipment lifecycle management, funding allocation, and financial reporting on infrastructure projects.
Supporting management and project leaders through financial analyses, variance explanations, and decision-support reporting.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of cost allocation models, KPI dashboards, and resource planning tools.
Coordinating equipment acquisition plans and ensuring consistency between financial projections and technical requirements.
Assisting in the preparation of business cases and return-on-investment (ROI) studies related to capital expenditure and major assets.
Participating in the quarterly and yearly closings, audits, and financial reviews for both internal and external stakeholders.
Supporting the continuous improvement of financial processes, workflows, and digital tools (ERP, BI dashboards)

Education
Graduate or Master’s degree with a specialization in Finance, Auditing, or Management Control.
Minimum 5–8 years of professional experience in a comparable role (e.g. manufacturing, services, R&D, or public organisation).
Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and cost control methodologies.
Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Familiarity with CAPEX controlling and equipment or asset management processes.
Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Unit4, Business Objects, or Power BI) and interest in process digitalisation.
Experience and skills
Strong analytical capability and an ability to translate data into clear insights.
Rigorous, detail-oriented, and methodical approach to work.
Proven ability to track capital investments and maintain accurate financial documentation for assets and equipment.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and administrative teams.
Highly adaptable, solution-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
Team player committed to continuous improvement and reliable reporting
Language skills
Fluency in French and English (both oral and written). Other relevant languages are an asset.
