Job Offer: Application/Cloud Architect at DG MARE (European Commission)

We are seeking an Application/Cloud Architect to join a major digital transformation programme within DG MARE (European Commission), focused on modernising fisheries data systems at the EU level. As part of the Integrated Fisheries Data Management (IFDM) programme, you will play a key role in migrating complex systems to AWS and shaping the future of data exchange across Member States.

The responsibilities of the Application/Cloud Architect include:

• Design and implement AWS cloud architecture (CI/CD, IaC)

• Analyse and integrate systems and data flows

• Define architecture components and support implementation

• Act as a technical interface between business and development teams

• Produce technical documentation and support data modelling

• Contribute to development, deployment, and maintenance of applications

• Review and improve systems, including cloud migration

• Participate in testing, meetings, and incident resolution

• Define best practices and coach junior team members

• 5+ years in Java and Angular

• 2+ years with AWS CDK and strong AWS knowledge

• Experience with:

  • Cloud architecture & CI/CD

  • System integration

  • REST/SOAP services

• Good knowledge of Spring Boot, Docker, PostgreSQL

• Strong analytical and communication skills

• Eligible for EU security clearance

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
