How will you contribute?
The Head of Finance for Project Office is responsible for overall leading and managing the Finance for Project team, defining, and implementing the service strategy and operations.
You’ll be a key player on the implementation of the F&A dept. strategy, defines team goals aligned with F&A strategy, and puts in place plans to achieve goals.
As Head of Office, you will lead a team of 10 people, and you will report to the Head of Finance Unit with 3 other Heads of Office.
You’ll be responsible to coordinate and organize, in close cooperation with Head of Units, project managers and concerned support team, all processes relative to the financial management of RDI projects and programs.
You’ll lead centralized operations in finance for project including the project invoicing, revenue recognition, national and international funding expertise, actuals, budget and forecast of project management, quality of project data in LIST systems.
Among other responsibilities, you will
· Define team goals aligned with F&A strategy.
· In close collaboration with stakeholders (Head of Units, project managers, support staff), organize, supervise and monitor the set of processes dedicated to finance for projects and the missions of its service.
· In close collaboration with stakeholders, harmonize, define and monitor the set of rules dedicated to finance in projects (structure, costing, pricing, procurement, time tracking, funding program ad hoc policies, …).
· Monitor operations dedicated to the invoicing of projects, revenue recognition, periodic forecasting, data quality management, management of objects (project, program, partnership, portfolio), funding authorities audit, project reporting.
· Ensure the quality of project data in our systems.
· Actively contribute to specify good practices in the use of systems in the different process dedicated to finance for projects
· Contribute to develop ad hoc solutions (tools & method) for finance for projects to support project managers.
· Be actively involved in projects with major impact on F&A activity, especially in Unity initiative and in Nexys project.
· Decide on promotions, salary review, recruitment, and terminations.
Required skills and experience
· Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Management.
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management of projects, preferably in a research, innovation, or industrial organization. [AB1] [ED2]
· Profound knowledge of the finance for RDI projects and deep understanding of related financial areas.
· Solid knowledge of the LIST organisation, its stakeholders, and how to navigate in the organisation.
· Ability to lead process improvement in close collaboration with stakeholders
· Good strategy, management, and leadership skills.
· Good analytical and decision-making skills and hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.
· Good skills in the use of large ERP systems and IT financial tools.
· Excellent command of data visualization tools, MS Excel, etc.
· Strong knowledge of project management.
· Excellent time management
· Pays attention to detail and organize work methodically.
· Has a calm demeanour and demonstrates diplomacy
· Leads and is assertive to others
· Strong communication skills (English and French), both orally and written.
