MYP Design Teacher (Product focus)
Join Our Learning Community at ISL!
Do you believe that every learner has unique potential, and that education should nurture curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness?
Are you passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences that empower students to make sense of the world and their place in it? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
As a teacher in our school, you will play a key role in shaping not only what our students learn, but how they learn.
You'll design engaging, concept-driven lessons that invite curiosity, encourage reflection, and challenge students to connect learning to their own lives — locally and globally.
Teachers in our school are expected to take part in the advisory programme.
This is more than a teaching position: it's an opportunity to join a collaborative community of educators who value innovation, inclusivity, and lifelong learning.
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative MYP Design Teacher with a strong focus on Product Design (woodworking, CAD, laser cutter and 3D printing) to join our international school community in Luxembourg.
This role is ideal for an educator who believes that design is a powerful way for students to explore ideas, solve real-world problems, and develop confidence as creators and innovators. While the position centres primarily on Product Design, experience with Digital Design is also important as part of the broader IB MYP Design curriculum.
At our school, learning is driven by curiosity, inquiry, and hands-on experimentation. We are looking for a teacher who enjoys guiding students through the design cycle, helping them to define the problem, research and brainstorm, prototype, test, iterate, and reflect while building practical design and technological skills.
What You'll Do
As our MYP Design Teacher, you will inspire students to design, build, and evaluate solutions to authentic problems while developing creativity and technical confidence.
● Designing inquiry-based and project-based learning experiences that connect design to real-world contexts.
● Teaching IB MYP Design, with a particular emphasis on Product Design, including the areas of prototyping, types of materials, tools, and the design process.
● Delivering engaging hands-on design projects that encourage experimentation, iteration, and innovation.
● Integrating Digital Design elements such as digital modelling, design tools, technology-supported workflows, robotics, coding and electronics.
● Supporting students in developing strong design thinking and problem-solving skills, including procedural, logical, concurrent, abstract, and recursive thinking.
● Integrating technology thoughtfully to enhance learning and creativity.
● Differentiating learning to support diverse learners, including English Language Learners.
●Using a Learning Management System to organize learning materials and support student engagement.
● Collaborating closely with colleagues to develop curriculum and share best practices.
● Contributing to the wellbeing and pastoral life of the school, including serving as a student advisor.
● Creating a positive and inclusive classroom culture where every learner feels valued and supported.
● Using continuous assessment and feedback to support student growth.
● Taking active part in the vibrant life of the school — from parent evenings to community events to leading beyond-the-classroom activities.
● Engaging in professional growth and bringing fresh ideas into the classroom.
● Engage with AI effectively in guiding learners by having a human-centered mindset, promoting ethical principles and responsible use, and providing the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to create and use AI to complement their education.
We are keen to attract applicants from diverse backgrounds, particularly those whose nationality, identity, gender or race is currently under-represented in international education.
We are committed to safeguarding and prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.
