The Luxembourg Judo Federation (FLJudo) is at an important stage of its development. Following a period of significant growth, expanding from 4 to 13 employees since 2020, we are transitioning from a phase of rapid expansion to one of strategic consolidation and professionalization.
We are seeking a solution-oriented, communicative, and strategically minded leader to guide the federation through its next steps of development in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Sports Directors, and the Administrative Director. This role is not about radical change, but about a continuous, well-coordinated process that respects existing structures while gradually improving them.
Location: Luxembourg (Maison des Sports, Strassen)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Compensation: Competitive salary package aligned with responsibilities, including a company car
Work Style: Executive-level autonomy with a flexible schedule; occasional availability on weekends and public holidays is required
As CEO, you will be the operational leader and primary strategic driver of FLJudo. Your mission is to bridge the gap between vision and daily execution, ensuring that our growth is sustainable and that our professional staff of 13 is empowered to excel. You will provide the leadership and objective-setting necessary to allow our talented directors to thrive while serving as a key partner to the Board of Directors.
Strategic Architecture & Execution: You will lead the continuous, well-coordinated process of evolving the federation while determining the overall strategy for Board approval.
Organizational Consolidation & Leadership: Following a period of rapid headcount growth, you will stabilize the team of 13 by defining clear accountabilities, setting KPIs, and fostering a culture of professional excellence. You will serve as the primary guide for the Administrative and Sports Directors, ensuring they have the vision and support to succeed.
Operational Maturity & Knowledge Security: You will lead the transition from legacy knowledge to documented, sustainable organizational workflows. This includes the pragmatic modernization of internal processes using accessible digital tools.
Club Empowerment & Professionalization: You will act as a key strategic resource for the 15 member clubs, helping them develop their organizational capacity and professionalize their internal structures.
Athlete Lifecycle & Retention: You will design specific initiatives to solve the retention of athletes after age 16 and improve elite results in the U21 and Adult categories. This includes broadening the federation’s appeal to late starters, health-oriented participants, and Para-judo athletes.
Institutional Presence & Branding: You will sharpen the federation's public image to reflect judo as a "socially impactful sport". Working alongside the Executive Committee, you will represent FLJudo in strategic dialogues with the Ministry, COSL, and international bodies to ensure a unified and influential voice.
Operational Audit & Alignment: Establish regular feedback loops and clear objectives for the administrative and sports staff.
Strategy Roadmap: Conduct a thorough analysis of the federation’s current state and, in partnership with the Board, translate our strategic axes into a concrete, actionable roadmap.
Systems Implementation: Transition manual, legacy processes (such as invoicing and membership tracking) into modern, automated workflows.
Relationship Building: Build strong, trust-based relationships with all 15 member clubs and our various commissions to ensure collective alignment.
We are looking for a leader who understands that in a federation environment, human relationships and structured processes are equally vital.
Essential Qualifications:
Proven Leadership: Extensive management experience, ideally within the sports, non-profit, or corporate sectors.
Organizational Design: A track record of maturing organizations by implementing clear structures, responsibilities, and documented workflows.
Business-level in English is required
Communication & Diplomacy: The ability to navigate a multi-stakeholder environment, ensuring volunteers and professionals work in harmony.
Additional Assets:
Knowledge of local sports structures and proficiency in French, Luxembourgish or German.
Experience within a national sports federation or knowledge of Judo is a significant advantage, though your management expertise is the priority.
Ability to leverage standard project management and collaboration tools to drive organizational efficiency.
